The Production Support Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating non-assembly production support activities including material movement, line supply, packaging, and staging. This role ensures that production areas are properly stocked, supported, and organized to maintain continuous workflow, quality standards, and operational efficiency. The Production Support Supervisor plays a critical role in cross-functional coordination between production, logistics, and inventory teams.
Essential Functions:
· Supervise and coordinate production support staff responsible for material handling, packaging, staging, and shop floor replenishment
· Oversee daily support operations to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies to production lines
· Monitor inventory levels of production materials and packaging supplies; coordinate with inventory or warehouse teams for timely replenishment
· Collaborate with production supervisors to align support efforts with daily and weekly production schedules
· Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and standards
· Train and develop team members, conduct performance evaluations, and promote continuous improvement initiatives
· Maintain clean and organized work areas, including staging zones and packaging areas
· Ensure accurate documentation of material movements and packaging usage using ERP or tracking systems
· Troubleshoot issues related to missing materials, supply delays, or packaging defects and implement corrective actions
· Assist in planning and coordinating physical inventories and cycle counts as needed
· Support lean manufacturing and 5S principles across production support areas
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
· Strong understanding of manufacturing material flow, inventory practices, and production operations
· Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment
· Proficient in using ERP systems, warehouse/inventory software, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook)
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
· Excellent communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams
· Ability to implement and support lean principles and continuous improvement processes
· Forklift certification or willingness to become certified preferred
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical training in operations or logistics preferred
· Three or more years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, including at least one year in a lead or supervisory role
· Experience working with production scheduling, inventory systems, and material handling equipment
· Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in material handling and packaging
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer while other days will be spent walking around the manufacturing plant.
· Most days, frequently changing from sitting to standing throughout the day.
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time
