GDI - Vice President, Tech Operations and Execution

 

As the VP, Technology Operations and Execution, you will be responsible for driving delivery excellence across all technology initiatives. This role focuses on operational leadership, program management, and execution alignment. It serves as the central point for translating technology strategy into actionable plans, managing priorities, and driving measurable outcomes.

 

This leader establishes structure and rhythm for the Technology organization, builds transparency through reporting and communication, and strengthens collaboration across teams and business partners. The role requires strong organizational discipline, clear communication, and a proven ability to lead through influence rather than authority.

Responsibilities

Operational Leadership and Delivery

  • Lead the planning and execution of technology initiatives that support business priorities.
  • Drive cross-functional coordination and accountability across multiple workstreams.
  • Monitor performance and delivery commitments to maintain focus and momentum.
  • Identify risks, remove blockers, and redirect resources where needed to meet goals.

 

Data and Process Management

  • Build and maintain frameworks for delivery governance and execution consistency.
  • Establish standards for change management, incident response, and service performance.
  • Maintain a balanced approach between operational control and agility.
  • Partner with leaders to improve processes, reduce redundancy, and promote transparency.

 

Program and Portfolio Oversight

  • Lead portfolio management, including prioritization, sequencing, and capacity planning.
  • Develop reporting dashboards that track milestones, dependencies, and outcomes.
  • Facilitate leadership reviews focused on decision-making and progress, not just status.
  • Manage vendor engagement and deliverables related to key programs or projects.

 

Performance Management and Communication

  • Provide clear, concise updates to the CTIO and executive leadership.
  • Create data-driven insights on delivery performance, resource utilization, and results.
  • Promote an execution culture based on accountability, clarity, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain alignment across technology and business functions through structured communication and collaboration.

 

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Partner with Enterprise Technology and Intelligence team and business stakeholders to support successful execution of initiatives.
  • Help drive a consistent operating rhythm across teams, including planning cycles, scorecards, and reviews.
  • Act as a stabilizing leader who can step in when gaps appear or when a project needs direction.
  • Promote collaboration, trust, and shared ownership of technology outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT operations, program management, or technology leadership.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of technology operations, governance, and delivery processes.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
  • Clear, concise communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive execution through collaboration.
  • Hands-on leader who takes ownership, follows through, and delivers results.

 

Preferred

  • Experience in multi-site or distributed business environments.
  • Knowledge of modern technology environments including cloud, SaaS, and enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with project and portfolio management tools such as Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, or Smartsheet.
  • Background in vendor management and contract oversight.
