Great Day Improvements - Cost & Inventory Analyst - Manufacturing

 

As the Cost & Inventory Analyst, this is a key role designed to support the manufacturing plants at the Florida Manufacturing location as well as the Patio Manufacturing Center of Excellence (COE) in Cleveland, Ohio. This role is vital to ensuring accurate financial reporting, efficient inventory management, and process improvements across the business.

Responsibilities

Support the Florida Manufacturing Division by:

  • Maintaining the inventory relief process for enhanced cost tracking.
  • Managing monthly physical inventories with detailed variance analysis.
  • Providing explanations for monthly inventory adjustments and preparing reports for Controller and senior management.
  • Support and eventual processing monthly FLM Absorption reporting to track costs and profitability.
  • Processing monthly journal entries to produce accurate financial reports with review by Controller
  • Preparing documentation for review by Controller for external auditors and tax professionals during the annual financial audit and tax preparation process.
  • Driving the Development and execution of process improvements to streamline financial and inventory operations.

Bookkeeping and Accounting Management of Manufacturing Divisions by:

  • Reviewing of inventory transactions ensuring accurate tracking of stock levels and movements.
  • Reviewing financial statements regularly to highlight trends and allow for accuracy, resolution of discrepancies, and document issues.
  • Preparing and analyzing the Receiving Cost Analysis reports and PPV Analysis for both the Florida Manufacturing and Patio COE locations, ensuring accurate cost allocation.
  • Continuously improving accounting processes and procedures, focusing on increasing operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Managing month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting for manufacturing divisions.
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting for the Florida Manufacturing branch and other divisions as necessary.

Inventory Management and Reporting by:

  • Collaborating with operations teams to improve inventory accuracy and minimize variances between book inventory and physical counts.
  • Adjusting NAV inventory based on regular cycle counts and scrap transactions.
  • Monitoring and improving inventory control procedures, ensuring compliance with corporate policies.
  • Tracking and reporting obsolete or slow-moving inventory and recommending strategies for cost recovery or disposal.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Supporting cross-functional teams with financial insights and reporting, aiding in decision-making for manufacturing and retail operations.
  • Assisting in the development of dashboards and KPIs to monitor manufacturing performance and financial health.
  • Supporting the integration of new accounting systems or updates, providing training to the team on new features and best practices.
  • Assisting in internal controls testing and compliance, ensuring all accounting procedures align with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
  • Identifying areas for cost savings or process improvements in both manufacturing and inventory management.
  • Leading or assisting in special projects related to financial analysis, inventory optimization, and manufacturing efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Accounting Expertise: Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly in manufacturing and inventory management.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software such as NAV and I-pad Job Cost System, as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Financial Reporting: Experience with financial reporting and analysis, with the ability to prepare and interpret reports for senior management.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions quickly.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as an Accounting Bookkeeper or similar role, with a strong understanding of manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with inventory management and financial reporting in a manufacturing or production setting is a plus.

Additional Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in budget forecasting, financial planning, or cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and compliance in financial processes.
  • Experience in working with auditors during year-end audits or special reviews.
  • Project management experience related to financial system upgrades or process improvements.
