Champion Windows - Manufacturing Team Lead

The Manufacturing Team Lead has a strong character and is constantly problem-solving and engaging with employees. This individual leads the department on communication, monitoring production hour by hour, and troubleshooting issues immediately affecting production. This individual’s primary function is to ensure the department operates properly, safely, and efficiently each day instead of operating a piece of equipment. At this level, there are key responsibilities for which a Team Lead will be held accountable. The following are the critical expectations of all individuals in the Team Lead position.

Pay range: $20.35 - $22.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Safety

Personal Protective Equipment

· Ensure everyone on your team wears the proper PPE while working in your department.

· Monitor and document PPE issuance and address individuals who frequently ask for PPE.

· If anyone within your department is not wearing their PPE properly or is missing their PPE, they are to be addressed immediately, coached, and communicated to the supervisor for tracking.

· While outside your department, you will be required to remind any personnel you observe not wearing their PPE to wear it and report the situation to their supervisor.

Guarding

· All guarding needs to be audited for compliance and to confirm that the guarding has not been tampered with. If found out of compliance, the Team Lead needs to report it to the supervisor or safety manager.

Communications

Start-Up Meeting w/ Supervisor Support

· Conduct the daily Start-up Meeting, which includes reviewing the department/area Tier Board (SQDIP), the previous day’s production results, and the current day’s production plan, including hours.

· The Team Lead will take attendance to ensure employees are at the department on time and redirect personnel if needed to support the production cell based on employees' availability and skill set.

Problem-Solving/Employee Suggestions

· They will be the first point of contact for employees who have an issue or suggestion about how we can improve our processes. If they cannot resolve the issue or suggestion themselves, they will escalate it to the supervisor.

· Once the issue or suggestion has progressed or is resolved, the Team Lead will communicate with the employee.

Material Shortages or Low Inventory

· Ensure that the department has the required material to execute daily production. When the department is low on inventory, the Team Lead should notify the Materials Team and, if necessary, the Associated Inventory Buyer.

End of Shift Meeting (Shift Hand-off) w/ Supervisor Support

· Gather the end-of-shift information, including production numbers from each operation within the department/value stream, and present them to the supervisor for final reporting.

· During the shift hand-off meeting, communicate critical information regarding production status, any machine issues, or inventory shortages.

Production/Efficiency/Schedule Attainment

· Responsible for monitoring the hour-by-hour (pitch) of their production line(s).

· Responsible for making labor and production schedule adjustments with the collaboration of the Supervisor throughout the day to ensure the production schedule is completed and the value stream(s) are operating efficiently.

· While monitoring the production cell(s), any deviations or missed pitches will require an immediate action plan to bring production back in line to achieve the daily goal for that shift.

Housekeeping
